Healthcare. My training has encompassed several areas including space sciences (International Space University), medicine (McGill University), cardiac surgery (McGill University), vascular surgery (University of British Columbia), endovascular surgery (Arizona Heart Institute) and clinical research (Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
I am presently an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at UCSF, a staff surgeon at the VAMC San Francisco and an Adjunct Faculty at the International Space University. I am a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and maintain a Certificate of Specialist in both cardiac and vascular surgery from RCPSC. I have been an invited lecturer on topics related to cardiovascular surgery and aerospace medicine at several national and international meetings. In addition to clinical practice and research, I work as a consultant for different governmental and private entities. My current research program encompasses two areas including clinical trials in cardiovascular medicine (for which I act as a principal investigator) and aerospace medicine.
